Real People, Real Talk – Real HUGS
DAY 8
Today I started work at 7.15am –
Then I went to a see a friend at 10.30am whose daughter has just bought her first house – I was invited to see it!
It’s been a while since I’ve seen my friend – a good few months!!
I arrived and immediately my friend was outside waiting for me! I got out the car with flowers in hand and gave her a long hug!
It was so nice to feel the hug and appreciate it in a proper way since giving up social media
To actually realise we are embracing cos we care about each other and are glad to see each other.
I’ve been spending my spare time with strangers for such a long time – black letters on a white background talking to me. No real person – perhaps some on them were bots as well…. What a sad thought….
I didn’t take the hug for granted this time – I made sure I felt the emotion from the hug with my friend and what it meant! It’s so easy to do it too quickly and not realise what’s actually happening in these moments!
I was immediately offered a cup of coffee in her daughters brand spanking new beautiful kitchen – wow it’s absolutely gorgeous!!
I got far too excited to be able to drink coffee – I needed the tour immediately!
Each room, we three, now walked around and spoke about each room and all the amazing cupboard space – opened door and put the light on in the bathroom and toilet rooms. I was really impressed with the way she had decorated and colour coded!
It really was impressive. I’m so pleased for her
Genuinely pleased and proud for her! She’s so young to have all this! Incredible!!
We all sat and started to drink our coffees and teas – talking about all sorts of subjects and giggling and sharing what been going on in our lives recently.
Gosh it was nice to connect with them. SEE into their eyes and speak and listen to them.
My friends husband turned up and then, there were 4!! – His usual huge smile filled his face when we saw each other. They are such a lovely family!
I felt part of it all – I felt I belonged- I felt accepted by the whole family in her daughter’s brand new home.
It was time to leave – I gave them all another hug and was told to contact her next week for another meet up! (I don’t think I can make that- I’m so busy) but still it was so nice to feel she wanted to get together again so soon!
I drove away feeling fuller. More like a complete person. I felt cared about – listened to and included. I felt important to them!
Back to work for couple of hours and now at 1:30pm i have another coffee arranged with a different friend in our ‘usual cafe’
When my other friend turned up she was laughing that we don’t even have to say where we are meeting anymore – it’s just a given that it’s THAT cafe, in THAT corner in THOSE chairs!
It’s almost like central perk in ‘friends’
We are newish friends. I actually met her at work and we got on so well we are both ‘giving it a go’ to become friends. So we’ve met up probably 5 times now?
She turned up looking her usual perfect self – ……that women has such style!!! Beautiful red trousers and a crisp white blouse with brownish buttons – so damn cool!
She’s always off gallivanting off doing different exercises or gyms or classes – she’s so cool! I am DEFINITELY inspired by her!
I was proud to say I was doing boxing in a 1-2-1 class atm! And I have a hike in Snowdon this weekend meeting lots of women who at the moment are complete strangers!
– I felt all proud of myself to finally join her in some tiny way with some exercise antics (something I’ve never really done before…
….BUT THINGS ARE CHANGING AROUND HERE!!!! I’ve Giving Up Social Media!!)
I also proudly revealed I’d recently bought an exercise bike (which I really must go on more….) my kids use it all the time – but I think it’s stretching the imagination a bit that watching them helps me with my fitness!!!!
Me and my friend hugged and sort of danced a side to side jumpy dance when we met – It felt so good to be excitedly met!
Again I took a moment to realise and take in the hug PROPERLY – understand what it REALLY was instead of almost doing it because that’s what people do – no, this time i hugged like i had 3.5 years to live….. (see my other posts regarding the AI front page scare tactics that we only have until the end of the decade if we don’t do something!!)
It really meant something to me today – seeing my friends – so much more than usual!
I took it in properly….
I’ve felt so lonely recently (even tho my follower and subscriber count was rising in the 100s almost every day recently!!!!!) – honestly things online were actually going very well – everyday the counts weee going up – but it’s a ‘jail’ and they aren’t friends!!!!
Today I saw my REAL friends!!!! That really means something. Something so much more!!!!!
They are really there – listening – interacting- hearing – speaking – suggesting – sharing – giving – it’s that I need to appreciate it all MORE! I need to experience the experience PROPERLY!! I need to appreciate how lucky I am
Today was amazing. And of course I don’t normally see two friends in one day in between work! This was clearly a ‘different’ day but I really enjoyed it
I’d only arranged it when I felt the pressure of looking after my elderly father recently and I thought I was losing my life – so I panic contacted my friends and arranged to see them! I’m so glad I did – cos I feel better
I feel lonely sometimes but there’s no need to- it’s just a case of making a plan to see people and actually doing it! I think they want it too tbh!
Actually arranging it – date in the diary rather then just a “oh we should coffee soon”
Today was nice – busy day with work but some lovely specks of real human sunshine’s in between!!
I felt I needed it – and perhaps they did too?!
